The Arts Center

After years of dreams, studies, planning, and a major capital campaign, our community arts center is a reality. The renovated Federal Building is now the home of the Arts Council. With 25,000 square feet of usable space, the building offers an exciting home for the arts in Greenwood. The building includes:

  • A visitors' center
  • Large, professional gallery
  • Gallery Shop
  • Beautiful reception hall with audio/visual capabilities
  • Conference room with audio/visual capabilities
  • Catering kitchen
  • Courtyard garden
  • Three spacious classrooms
  • Seven studios
  • Office space for The Self Family Foundation
  • Office space for The Greenwood Tourism and Visitors Center

Ownership of the Federal Building was obtained by the City and County of Greenwood in 2002 through the US Department of Interior National Parks Service Federal Lands to Parks Program. The City and County of Greenwood entered into a concessions agreement with the Greenwood Arts Council for the public use of the property. The Greenwood Arts Council led the development of the Emerald Triangle Capital Campaign Project to raise the funding for renovations to the Federal Building. The Self Family Foundation was the lead donor providing over $1.75 million dollars of the renovation budget.
